CCTV for Ships

CCTV is commonplace in many workplaces and public areas and ships are no different when it comes to their security needs. Increasingly there is a requirement to improve on-board security with up to the minute CCTV security systems.

It is understandable that maritime applications will differ from on-shore activities. There is a need to be able to view all that is happening on board. It can be a demanding environment and it is vital that any equipment used on board is not only fit for purpose but reliable and robust. Watching activities throughout the vessel and being more in control at all times will give additional reassurance.

CCTV for Ships

Ship Security

There will be security systems to suit all size of marine vessel. From straight forward security cameras that show real time activity in a fixed position to more advanced systems which will view and record at all angles throughout the ship. Recording both day and night and allowing footage to be viewed on board or ashore as required.

Maritime CCTV solutions have become more advanced in recent years just as ships have become more sophisticated. Cameras are now used to monitor and protect staff, freight and equipment. In particular, their use to record unloading and off-loading proves invaluable when it comes to processing any potential claims. Used to help increase safety, ensure efficiency and the comfort of all the crew, CCTV is becoming common place. Even the concept of using the cameras to view beyond the vessel to give optimum vision all around the ship aids operational purposes.

The CCTV security solution will be speciality designed and installed to suit the conditions of a ship at sea. It’s not even just for the enormous freight ships, this specialised video security can be used for cruise ships, pleasure boats or yachts, in fact any marine or inland water vessel. While fixed cameras may be popular there will also be situations that require a range of CCTV cameras including PTZ, dome, analogue, IP. The option for thermal imagery for night time recording is another great benefit.

Boats & Yachts

Due to their valuable nature, yachts and pleasure boats will also need protection. Owners will agree that it’s not only the monetary value but the inconvenience of damage that may hamper planned trips. The boat will be an asset but will also be a means to partake in an enjoyable pastime. The risk of theft, damage, trespass or vandalism can be reduced with a robust security system.

TEC Security recently installed a CCTV Security Solution on-board the ILV Granuaile, the vessel operated by The Commissioners of Irish Lights. We brought our expertise to this unique project and we delighted with the results.
